The Coast Guard found debris that may have been part of the vessel built by OceanGate. The firm’s CEO Stockton Rush was piloting the submersible. The vessel, called Titan, had made the journey to the area before.
Four passengers along for the expedition included British businessman Hamish Harding, British-Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his teenage son Suleman, and French maritime expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet.
“We grieve the loss of life,” Washington-based OceanGate said.
