According to the poll, there is strong nationwide support for imposing export taxes on oil shipments to retaliate against Trump’s tariffs. Overall, 82% of Canadians favor raising prices on oil exports to the U.S. if Trump imposes levies on Canadian goods while exempting oil.
While energy export taxes have historically been a politically divisive issue in Canada, the overwhelming support in the poll reflects the growing frustration among Canadians over the 78-year-old Republican’s repeated trade threats.
