Apple is preparing one of its biggest software revamps ever, aiming to transform the user interface of the iPhone, iPad, and Mac for a new generation of users, Fortune’s Andrew Nusca reported, citing longtime Apple analyst Mark Gurman.

The redesign—expected later this year—will bring a modernized look and feel to Apple’s operating systems while improving consistency and streamlining navigation across devices.

Sources told Gurman that the new design is loosely based on Vision Pro’s software, visionOS.

Apple is expected to unveil details about the update at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, with the changes rolling out in iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16.

However, Apple is not merging its operating systems, Gurman emphasized.

The overhaul comes at a critical time for Apple, as the company faces criticism over underwhelming AI features under its Apple Intelligence initiative and declining iPhone sales during the last holiday season.

Additionally, reports suggest that Apple’s once legendary design team has struggled to maintain influence within the tech giant, which has grown by 100,000 employees and added hundreds of billions in revenue since Steve Jobs’ passing in 2011.
