The package includes $1.25 billion in Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA), which allows the U.S. military to supply weapons quickly from existing stockpiles. An additional $1.22 billion will be allocated through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), a long-term program that funds weapons contracts.
Biden confirmed that all USAI funds have now been expended and emphasized his commitment to utilizing the remaining drawdown money during his presidency.
"I've directed my administration to continue surging assistance to Ukraine as quickly as possible," Biden said in a statement. "The U.S. will work relentlessly to strengthen Ukraine’s position in this war over the remainder of my time in office."
