The new model comes with a lower starting price, continuing BYD's strategy of price reductions to remain competitive in the world's largest auto market. Qiaoyi Li, Zhang Yan, and Brenda Goh reported for Reuters.
The updated Qin Plus DM-i sedan is priced at 79,800 yuan ($11,090), marking a 20% reduction from its predecessor. This plug-in hybrid vehicle competes directly with popular gasoline sedans like Nissan's Sylphy and VW's Lavida.
In addition to the new sedan, BYD announced plans to introduce several high-end luxury models in the coming year.
The automaker also outlined an action plan aimed at enhancing quality and returns, as stated in a filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKSE) on Sunday, Feb. 18, by Liz Lee for Reuters.
