The union representing Canadian auto workers has announced that it has set an October 29 deadline to strike at Jeep maker Stellantis, as reported by the Associated Press (AP).

Unifor stated in a press release that it would officially commence negotiations with the company on Wednesday in an effort to secure a contract agreement similar to those reached with rivals General Motors and Ford.
Among the three Detroit automakers, Stellantis boasts the largest manufacturing presence in Canada, employing more than 8,200 workers across facilities in Windsor, Brampton, and Etobicoke, Ontario, as well as two parts distribution centers.

This vote aligned with the agreement previously reached with Ford. In the United States, strikes led by the United Auto Workers persist, with nearly 34,000 workers on strike at all three Detroit companies. Unifor is Canada’s largest private sector union, representing 315,000 workers.
