Uy was accompanied by President & CEO Aileen Anunciacion R. Zosa and other top executives from the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA)in the ocular inspection of the data centers and key facilities in New Clark City.
BCDA also presented the status of the Luzon Bypass Infrastructure (LBI) to the DICT head.
“With digital infrastructure development as one of the priority agendas of our President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., we are looking into more opportunities to fast-track the buildup of our digital highways,” Uy said.
New Clark City is a smart and green metropolis with a projected population of 1.2 million. It promotes disaster resiliency to ensure business continuity, a must in a country situated in one of the most disaster-prone regions in the world.
The National Government Administrative Center, on the other hand, is an integrated government center outside of Metro Manila.
The Broadband ng Masa Program is one of the major connectivity programs of the DICT. One of the components of the program is the Luzon Bypass Infrastructure (LBI): an ultra-high speed information highway that serves as a 240-km multi-duct cable conduit path that will have two international cable landing stations located at Poro Point, La Union in the east and Baler, Aurora in the west.
The DICT operates and maintains the LBI in partnership with the BCDA and Facebook.
For the next steps, the DICT, Joint Venture of Comclark, Net Pacific and Trends and Technologies, Joint Venture of RD Policarpio, and Livan Trade and CommTrends are set to conduct a joint inspection for the LBI initiative.
“Moving forward, we also hope to continue our partnership with the private sector to help develop digital solutions and expand connectivity. These efforts will ultimately help us build ICT-enabled and truly resilient cities for our communities,” Uy asserted.
