Listed Far Eastern University (FEU) has bared that its “student portal” has fallen victim to hacking and that it is now trying to address the issue.
In a letter to Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Market and Securities Regulation Director Vicente Graciano P. Felizmenio, the school said that it has come to its attention that the student portal of the university “may have been compromised, including the data contained therein.
Lawyer Anthony Raymond Goquingco, assistant corporate secretary of FEU said that its information technology team is now in coordination with “external consultants “ investigating the matter with the aim of implementing further cybersecurity measures.
Companies and other enterprises have been on full alert since the Covid 19 pandemic due to possible cyber breaches that could result in losses due to identity thefts whereby unscrupulous individuals could use the hijacked identity and other data to fund unauthorized purchases from merchants or use the data to hoodwink others.
