First PAGCOR Socio-Civic Center Unveiled in Occidental Mindoro

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) inaugurated the province's first PAGCOR-funded socio-civic center last Friday (Feb. 28) in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.

The two-story facility, built with a ₱50 million grant from PAGCOR, will benefit residents of Mamburao’s 15 barangays as well as neighboring municipalities.

Occidental Mindoro Governor Eduardo B. Gadiano, who led the unveiling alongside PAGCOR Vice President for Corporate Social Responsibility Ramon Stephen R. Villaflor, expressed gratitude for the project and highlighted its multiple uses beyond disaster response.

"We are deeply grateful to PAGCOR for bringing the first socio-civic center to Occidental Mindoro,” Gadiano said. “This facility will greatly support various community initiatives and provide a safe refuge during severe weather conditions.”

The governor also emphasized the center’s potential to generate revenue for the province.

“When not in use as an evacuation center or for socio-civic events, we can rent out this space to individuals and organizations, generating funds for its maintenance,” he added.

PAGCOR’s Villaflor reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to community development and nation-building.

"This socio-civic center is a testament to PAGCOR’s commitment to nation-building,” he said.

“It is also our response to the people of Occidental Mindoro, providing a facility that serves as both a shelter during calamities and a venue for community development and fundraising efforts.”

To date, PAGCOR has completed and inaugurated 45 socio-civic centers nationwide, with 28 more facilities nearing completion.
