The recall affects specific Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair models manufactured between 2020 and 2024. According to the NHTSA, "a manufacturing defect in one or more of the high-voltage battery cells may result in an internal short circuit and battery failure."
Ford dealers will provide a free update to the battery energy control module software and, if necessary, replace the high-voltage battery pack. Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to contact their local dealerships or visit the NHTSA website to check if their vehicle is part of the recall.
