Global Shares Trade Mixed As Wall Street Closes For A Holiday

Global shares displayed a mixed performance Tuesday as Chinese markets reopened for the second day following the Lunar New Year holiday, Yuri Kageyama reported for the Associated Press (AP).


France's CAC 40 index rose by 0.3% early in trading to reach 7,788.86 points.



In Europe, France's CAC 40 index rose by 0.3% early in trading to reach 7,788.86 points, while Germany's DAX index dipped by 0.3% to 17,047.67 points.


The FTSE 100 index in Britain remained relatively unchanged, edging up by less than 0.1% to 7,732.31 points. Meanwhile, in the United States, trading was closed on Monday for President's Day, with Dow futures slipping nearly 0.2% to 38,621.00 points, and S&P 500 futures down 0.2% to 5,007.50 points.



Asian markets saw varied movements, with Hong Kong's Hang Seng index climbing by 0.6% to 16,247.51 points, and the Shanghai Composite index rising by 0.4% to 2,922.73 points.


However, Japan's Nikkei 225 index fell by 0.3% to close at 38,363.61 points. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index slipped slightly by less than 0.1% to 7,659.00 points, and South Korea's Kospi index experienced a decline of 0.8% to 2,657.79 points.
