The Honda Civic Hybrid took home the award for Car of the Year, the Ford Ranger won in the Truck category, and the Volkswagen ID. Buzz secured the Utility Vehicle award.

The honors were decided by a panel of 50 journalists from the US and Canada, evaluating vehicles based on innovation, design, performance, driver satisfaction, and value.

This year marked the awards’ return to the traditional January Detroit Auto Show after pandemic-related delays had shifted the show to the fall in previous years.

Automakers value the awards as a reflection of media perceptions and a potential influence on consumer purchasing decisions. Finalists for Car of the Year included the Kia K4 compact and the Toyota Camry, while the Ford Ranger and Volkswagen ID. Buzz emerged victorious in their respective categories.
