IBM Commits To Ethical AI With EU Pact

IBM has officially signed the European Commission’s AI Pact, reinforcing its commitment to ethical AI development and compliance with the upcoming EU AI Act.

IBM joins over 100 companies in signing the European Commission’s AI Pact, reinforcing its commitment to ethical AI practices and paving the way for compliance with the upcoming EU AI Act.

This move reflects IBM’s long-standing support for the EU’s efforts to regulate high-risk AI systems while fostering industry-wide best practices.

As a signatory, IBM pledges to adopt an AI governance strategy, conduct a comprehensive mapping of high-risk AI systems, and actively promote AI literacy among employees and clients.

The European Commission introduced the AI Pact as a voluntary initiative, urging companies to implement measures aligned with the AI Act before its full application.

Over 100 organizations, including IBM, have signed the pact, representing a diverse range of industries from IT and telecoms to healthcare, automotive, and banking. These companies have committed to responsible AI governance, identification of high-risk AI systems, and promotion of ethical AI use within their operations.

IBM’s participation strengthens its position as a leader in responsible AI innovation. This latest move aligns with the company's focus on integrating powerful technologies responsibly, a commitment that has been in place for years.

By working towards compliance with the AI Act, IBM is helping shape the future of AI in Europe, ensuring that AI is developed and deployed safely, transparently, and ethically.

The AI Pact is part of a broader initiative by the European Commission to boost AI innovation across Europe.

Through projects like AI Factories, venture capital support, and the creation of a European AI Research Council, the Commission aims to enhance AI capabilities in key sectors such as healthcare, energy, and manufacturing.
