South Korea’s anti-corruption watchdog has secured an extension of the warrant to arrest impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol, and a second attempt to take the embattled leader into custody could occur as early as this week, according to a report by Soo-Hyang Choi and Sam Kim for Bloomberg News.

The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) obtained an extension of the initial warrant, following the expiration of the original warrant a day earlier, according to a text message from the team.
The investigators declined to confirm the duration of the new warrant.
Last week, the CIO failed to arrest Yoon after encountering resistance from the president’s security team. The agency aims to detain Yoon for questioning regarding his botched martial law decree, which led to his impeachment.
Yoon has repeatedly defied the CIO's orders to appear before the agency. South Korea continues to grapple with the fallout from Yoon’s short-lived imposition of martial law on December 3, which has plunged the country into its most severe constitutional crisis in years.
