The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating an incident in which a Japan Airlines flight collided with a Delta Airlines plane while taxiing at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport last week, Michelle del Rey reported for The Independent.

The incident occurred around 10:40 a.m. in an area not under air traffic control, according to FAA officials. The Japan Airlines aircraft struck the wingtip of the Delta plane, which was preparing for departure to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, with 142 passengers on board.

Delta stated that all customers safely deplaned and were later accommodated on another flight to their final destination.

The airport worked with both airlines to facilitate passenger deboarding and terminal transfers. Incoming flights were temporarily paused following the collision. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

“We apologize for the experience and delay in travels,” Delta said in a statement.

This marks the third aviation incident in the U.S. since Donald Trump’s return to the White House. Previous incidents include a helicopter colliding with an American Eagle regional jet in Washington, D.C., and a medical aircraft crashing into a Philadelphia neighborhood. Tragically, no one survived the two earlier crashes.

Some critics have linked recent aviation safety concerns to reported interference by Elon Musk in air traffic control operations.

Allegations suggest that Musk pressured controllers to resign and replaced them with unqualified personnel. Meanwhile, Trump blamed diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies for a decline in air traffic control standards under his administration.
