Koshidaka currently operates over 600 outlets in Japan. According to Secretary Roque, the company is scouting 30 locations in the Philippines, with plans to expand to 100 sites nationwide.

The first outlet is expected to open this year.

Koshidaka is one of 13 firms and business organizations that Roque met during her recent visit to Tokyo, as part of ongoing investment missions in Japan.

Other firms include Nidec Corp., Ibiden Co., Ltd., Etoile Kaito & Co., Inc., Adastria Co., Ltd., Sumitomo, Fujifilm Holdings Corp., Chodai Co., Ltd., Taiheiyo Cement Corp., Fast Retailing, JR East, and Keizai Doyukai and Keidanren.

“We are also checking on their plans for expansion and growth in our country,” Roque said.

Earlier, Koshidaka announced plans to establish a Philippine subsidiary to introduce a new style of karaoke entertainment. The firm views its expansion in the Philippines as a key initiative in its Southeast Asia growth strategy, citing the country’s large market and economic growth.

“In addition to entertainment, they also plan to open women-only gyms nationwide and develop Japanese onsens in malls and other strategic locations,” Roque stated.

“They will be visiting this year to explore potential locations.”

Koshidaka is well known for its karaoke chains, including Karaoke Manekineko and One Kara, a brand designed for solo singers.
