Leadership Changes Announced For Sun Life Canada

Sun Life, a global financial services firm active in the Philippines, has announced leadership changes for its Sun Life Canada operations.

Kevin Strain, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sun Life, declared that Jacques Goulet, who has led the company through significant growth since 2018, will step into a new role as Executive Chair, Sun Life Canada.


Jessica Tan, who ranked among Fortune’s Top 5 Most Powerful Women from 2019 to 2023, will succeed him as President of Sun Life Canada. These changes will take effect on September 30, 2024.



Strain praised Goulet as a "purpose-driven leader focused on delivering innovation." He noted Goulet’s achievements in launching key initiatives like the Client Experience Office and Sun Life Health, and spearheading products such as Sun Life One Plan and Prospr by Sun Life.


Jessica Tan brings extensive global experience in insurance and digital innovation to Sun Life Canada.



She previously served as co-CEO of one of Asia’s largest insurers and held roles as Group COO and CIO. Prior to that, she was a partner at McKinsey, where she worked across 13 countries.


She holds a Master’s degree in Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.



Strain expressed confidence in Tan's leadership, saying, “Jessica brings unique skills and a proven track record of digital transformation, and she’s a great fit for our culture.”


Sun Life provides asset management, wealth, insurance, and health solutions globally. As of June 30, 2024, it had total assets under management of $1.46 trillion.
