The US Lower House voted on Friday to expel Republican Rep. George Santos of New York after a scathing report on his conduct raised lawmakers' concerns about the scandal-plagued solon, Kevin Freking reported for the Associated Press (AP).

The vote to expel was 311-114, easily surpassing the required two-thirds majority. Despite opposition from House Republican leaders, 105 GOP lawmakers sided with nearly all Democrats to expel him.
Santos became the sixth member in the chamber's history to be ousted by colleagues and the third since the Civil War.
His expulsion marks the end of a congressional chapter for Santos, whose celebrated political rise unraveled due to revelations of false claims about his background and an indictment on multiple charges in May.
