Macau casino tycoon Stanley Ho died on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at the age of 98, his family told the Agence France Presse (AFP.)
Born in Hong Kong, Ho made billions transforming neighboring Macau from a sleepy Portuguese outpost into the world's biggest gambling hub. China has consistently described Ho, who also had mansions in other countries, as a “patriotic entrepreneur.”
He sired at least 17 children with four women and speculations about how his gambling empire would be divided among his partners and children were regular fare in Hong Kong’s tabloids.
Family members said Ho passed away shortly after 1 p.m. at the Hong Kong Sanatorium. "My father will live in our family members' hearts forever and the hearts of all the people who benefited from him and were encouraged by him," daughter Pansy told reporters. #StanleyHo
