Megawide Construction Corporation and Maplecrest Group, Inc., through their joint venture Cavite Rapid Transport, Inc.—together with their public sector partner, the Provincial Government of Cavite—officially signed the contract for the Cavite Bus Rapid Transit System Project (CBRT) on January 27, 2025, at the Twin Lakes Hotel, Nasugbu, Batangas.

“We are excited to collaborate with MGI and the provincial government of Cavite on this transformative project. The initial phase of the CBRT will serve close to 10,000 daily passengers, with a target to increase ridership fivefold within three years, depending on Cavite’s progress. This is part of our commitment to providing world-class infrastructure for Filipinos,” shared Megawide Chairman and CEO Edgar Saavedra.

The CBRT is a Public-Private Partnership project of the PGC under a 30-year Build-Operate-Transfer Joint Venture agreement.

It aims to develop an efficient and organized bus transport system along a 29-kilometer stretch, initially designed to serve approximately 10,000 passengers daily, with the capacity to expand up to 80,000 passengers per day.

The project has an estimated total cost of ₱1.87 billion, spread throughout the JV period.

Innovative Mobility Solutions for Cavite Province

The development is divided into two phases. Phase 1 will feature three terminals and 27 stations and will include the operation of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and Point-to-Point (P2P) bus system, covering several cities and municipalities, including Kawit, Imus, General Trias, and Tanza.

Meanwhile, Phase 2 will include one terminal and 20 stations, extending to Trece Martires via the New Cavite Provincial Capitol.

The alignment will also connect to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) and other central business districts via P2P services.

Construction of Phase 1 of the CBRT is set to begin in the first quarter of 2025, with operations expected to commence by the third quarter of the same year. The entire project is targeted for completion by 2028.

The BRT system is a modern public transportation solution designed for speed, reliability, and convenience. Operating on scheduled trips along dedicated lanes ensures faster travel times and reduced traffic congestion.

The system features integrated, strategically located stations that are easily accessible, with stops positioned near key landmarks for added convenience.

With Megawide’s expertise in transport infrastructure, the CBRT underscores the company’s commitment to delivering innovative and impactful solutions to the country’s mobility challenges.

“Our focus on intermodal connectivity, efficient transport systems, and commuter-centered solutions aims to improve public transportation and enhance mobility for Caviteños,” added Saavedra.

Synergy with Lancaster New City

A significant portion of the CBRT alignment will pass through the spine road of Lancaster New City, a project by MGI’s subsidiary, Profriends. Lancaster New City’s spine road is a limited-access road that runs through Imus, General Trias, and Tanza.

“The integration of the CBRT into Lancaster New City’s spine road will enhance mobility and connectivity for the communities we serve. This initiative aligns with our advocacy to uplift the lives of the common man,” shared MGI Chairman Guillermo Choa.

The CBRT is envisioned to improve Cavite’s transportation infrastructure and connectivity—both within the province and to Metro Manila—while also reducing traffic congestion and supporting local economic development. This initiative aligns with Megawide’s vision of engineering a First-World Philippines through innovative infrastructure solutions.
