This agreement, signed by key leaders from both Meralco and A-FLOW, paves the way for the construction of a 115-kV switching station in Biñan, Laguna, which will supply critical power to A-FLOW's ML1 data center.

This move, according to A-FLOW President and FLOW Digital Infrastructure CEO Amandine Wang, showcases the potential of enhancing power reliability and redundancy, ensuring uninterrupted operations for the data center.

“It’s a true showcase to the market and customers of what we can do to make an impact by ensuring uninterrupted operation, mitigating risk of downtime, and enhancing reliability,” she said.

Meralco Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Ferdinand O. Geluz emphasized the company’s proactive stance in supporting the growth of hyperscale data centers in the Philippines.

“With hyperscale data centers considered one of the emerging industries in the country, Meralco and its subsidiaries have been proactively preparing to meet the industry’s requirements,” he said.

The development of the switching station aligns with Meralco’s proactive efforts to support the country’s hyperscale data center industry, which is rapidly expanding due to the increasing need for advanced data management and digital services.

Set to be completed by December 2025, the 115-kV switching station will improve system reliability not only for A-FLOW’s data center but also for surrounding areas, ensuring consistent power delivery amid the growing demand for data infrastructure.

Meralco’s Executive Vice President and COO Ronnie L. Aperocho also highlighted Meralco's commitment to addressing the industry's critical needs, such as redundancy, scalability, safety, and renewable energy.

“We assure data center operators like A-FLOW of Meralco’s unwavering commitment to providing reliable power and innovative solutions, energizing these critical digital infrastructures to meet global standards," said Aperocho.

With this collaboration, Meralco continues to play a pivotal role in powering the Philippines' digital infrastructure, ensuring that companies like A-FLOW can maintain continuous operations and support the country’s digital transformation.
