Meralco To Power Samsung's Electronic Chip Component Plant Expansion

The Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) is set to power the expansion of Samsung Electro-Mechanics Philippines Corporation’s (SEMPHIL) manufacturing plant in Calamba, Laguna.

This collaboration will address the increased power demand of the facility, enabling SEMPHIL to enhance its production capabilities.


Meralco has already initiated technical discussions to ensure that the new power requirements for the expansion will be met. The project is expected to become operational within the next few years, providing stable and reliable electricity crucial for SEMPHIL's operations.



The upgraded power infrastructure will support the plant's manufacturing of essential electronic components such as Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCC), Tantalum Capacitors, Inductors, and Chip Resistors, which are vital for the production of modern electronic devices like smartphones, PCs, and LED TVs.



This development underscores Meralco’s commitment to supporting the growth of the semiconductor and electronics sectors in the Philippines, which are pivotal to the country's economic growth and development.
