These awards recognize the group's efforts to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), specifically in the areas of Decent Work and Economic Growth, Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Goal Partnerships.

MPIC crafted meaningful strategies to highlight the conglomerate's push to provide essential services in the face of the COVID-19 challenge. Its 2020 Annual & Sustainability Report, as well as In the Heart of MPIC, a six-month radio show with DWIZ, both provided detailed accounts of the group's strategic moves to keep the country running.

“Our goals remain unchanged—to achieve national progress and uplift the lives of our countrymen. Seeing how our work helps Filipinos is, by itself, rewarding. But being recognized for our passion adds more fuel to our fire,” said MPIC Chairman, President & CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan.

When things were tough in 2021, MPIC prioritized keeping services running and reaching as many people as possible on as many platforms as possible, all while expanding its corporate social responsibility programs to assist the most vulnerable sectors affected by the pandemic.

“Sharing our narratives of making progress and inspiring change in every endeavor we undertake is a significant part of the work we do,” said Melody del Rosario, Vice President of Public Relations and Corporate Communications at MPIC.

Del Rosario went on to say that while MPIC's 'initiatives are meaningful on their own, the stories behind them demonstrate the purpose embedded at the heart of the company.'

The Metro Pacific Investments Foundation's (MPIF) one-year food security program Bayan Tanim! and its alternative livelihood program Puhunang Pangkabuhayan were also recognized for assisting Filipinos in regaining their footing. This was consistent with MPIC's renewed emphasis on sustainability. These efforts, with a recurring theme of resurgence, aimed to get people back on their feet so they could be self-sufficient and take charge of a better future.

Shore it Up!, MPIF's main environmental program, on the other hand, was always put to use, even after the pandemic was over. The Foundation, in collaboration with the Cordova LGU and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC), opened its third Mangrove Propagation and Information Center in Cordova, Cebu, in January 2021.

At the event, the Mangrove Eco-guides, four local residents hired to protect ecotourism in the area, were also inducted.

There were also initiatives that partnered with the MVP Group of Companies and Tulong Kapatid, the group's corporate social responsibility alliance, to assist first responders and vulnerable communities.

The MVP Group GABAY Concert was particularly significant because it marked the beginning of the group's six GABAY Advocacies for a Sustainable Philippines. These umbrella projects, created to commemorate the Chairman's 75th birthday, demonstrate how the organization is assisting in the achievement of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for jobs, youth and leadership, the environment, community service, health and sports, and education.

MPIC's well-known programs not only honored the bravery of the country's frontliners and the growing bayanihan spirit sparked by adversity, but also MVP, MPIC's President, Chairman, and CEO.

In Metro Pacific's 75th Birthday Tribute to MVP music video, company and foundation executives shared how his drive to help the Filipino people inspired them to do the same.
