MSpectrum, Inc., the solar subsidiary of Meralco, has inaugurated a cutting-edge solar rooftop facility for General Trias Water Corporation (GTWC).
Sustainable Water Utility Operations: (L-R) MSpectrum COO Patrick Henry L. Panlilio, Meralco VP Charina P. Padua, GTWC Director Amelita Grepo, GTWC GM Susan Baria, GTWC President Domingo R. Semaña, and Meralco SVP Robert S. Galang come together to mark the partnership.
This marks the first solar-powered water pump system in Cavite, a milestone that reflects GTWC’s commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.
Incorporating Solar for Cleaner Energy
The P2.5-million solar rooftop facility boasts a capacity of 33 kilowatt-peak (kWp), generating approximately 45,350 kWh of clean energy annually.
Strategically installed to power GTWC’s water pumps, the system is expected to deliver significant environmental and economic benefits, reducing operational costs while cutting the corporation's carbon footprint by an estimated 32.3 metric tons per year.
GTWC, a trusted water utility since 1995 serving communities in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Bulacan, is embracing renewable energy to align with global sustainability goals.
The facility’s environmental impact is equivalent to planting over 1,400 trees or reducing vehicle travel by 79,000 kilometers annually.
During the ceremonial turnover, Patrick Henry L. Panlilio, MSpectrum Chief Operating Officer, highlighted the dual impact of the project: “This solar power generating system will not only help GTWC achieve its sustainability goals but also enable significant savings on electricity costs.”
The project signifies the beginning of a long-term partnership between One Meralco Group and GTWC.
Meralco Senior Assistant Vice President Robert S. Galang emphasized their dedication to supporting GTWC’s growth: “We are grateful for the trust given to us and the opportunity to be GTWC's partner in achieving its sustainability goals. One Meralco Group remains committed to extending support through innovative energy solutions.”
With over eight years of expertise, MSpectrum has spearheaded the installation of more than 80 MW of solar rooftop projects, equivalent to powering approximately 40,000 households.
The new partnership with GTWC underscores MSpectrum’s commitment to expanding solar solutions in the Philippines and enabling businesses to transition to renewable energy.
Towards a Greener Future
As the global push for sustainability intensifies, partnerships like this serve as a beacon of progress. By leveraging renewable energy, GTWC and MSpectrum are not just optimizing operations—they’re setting a precedent for eco-conscious practices in the water utility industry.
The collaboration is a clear testament to how solar energy can empower communities, support businesses, and safeguard the environment, one innovative solution at a time.
