President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has urged the government and stakeholders to prioritize the semiconductor and electronics industry, citing its substantial contributions to the Philippine economy.
PSAC-EJSG also presented the country’s semiconductor and electronics roadmap and recommended creating a National Education and Workforce Development Plan.
During a meeting with the Private Sector Advisory Council-Education and Jobs Sector Group (PSAC-EJSG) at Malacañan Palace, the President emphasized the need to focus on this sector.
“We need to push the semiconductor industry because of its significant contribution to our export income,” President Marcos stated. He suggested granting incentives to semiconductor locators similar to those extended to other industries under the CREATE MORE Law.
The President proposed implementing the necessary changes through a revised Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) for quicker execution.
