Ukraine and Russia on Wednesday accused each other of failing to honor a halt on energy infrastructure strikes, following talks between Washington and the Kremlin aimed at ending the three-year conflict, Stanislav Doshchitsyn reported for Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of already breaking his pledge, stating that Russia attacked Ukraine with 150 drones overnight, including strikes on energy facilities.
The Kremlin, in turn, condemned an overnight attack on an oil facility in Russia, claiming it demonstrated Ukraine’s “lack of will” to reach a deal—though Kyiv was not part of the negotiations, and no formal agreement had been signed, Jessie Yeung, Maria Kostenko, and Lauren Kent reported for CNN.
U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a 90-minute call recently, during which the Kremlin leader supported a limited 30-day halt on strikes against Ukraine’s power grid.
President Zelensky also expressed Kyiv’s support for the moratorium.
However, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry reported that an overnight barrage of Russian missiles and drones struck the war-battered nation. “Today, Putin effectively rejected the proposal for a full ceasefire,” said Zelensky, as reported by Reuters and the Associated Press (AP).
