A victory in Wisconsin early Wednesday secured Trump 277 Electoral College votes, surpassing the 270 needed to win the White House.

This win followed other key Trump victories in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina—critical swing states that ultimately decided the outcome of the race. Trump is also leading the popular vote with 51% of the returns as of now.

Trump becomes the second president to lose a reelection campaign and return to the White House four years later. The only other president to win a nonconsecutive term was Grover Cleveland in 1892.
