The Japanese government granted a 19-billion-yen subsidy to entice the world's largest contract semiconductor maker, which will utilize the center to investigate manufacturing technologies, or post-processing, which influences semiconductor performance.

The new center will research material science methods for silicon stacking and sophisticated packaging.

The Japanese government is collaborating with TSMC to improve its production and development technology, which lags behind those of foreign firms. It would also contribute up to 476 billion yen to Sony Group Corp. and other companies for the construction of an advanced semiconductor factory in Kumamoto Prefecture.
