U.S. Mulls Sanctioning Huawei’s Chinese Chip Network

The Biden administration is contemplating blacklisting several Chinese semiconductor firms associated with Huawei Technologies Co., as reported by Bloomberg News, according to Shreya Biswas for Reuters.

The companies under consideration for blacklisting include chipmakers Qingdao Si'En, SwaySure, and Shenzhen Pensun Technology Co., the report stated, adding that US officials are also considering sanctions on memory chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies Inc.

President Joe Biden has prohibited the sale of advanced chip technology to China, a country heavily reliant on US-manufactured chips and dependent on ASML of The Netherlands for lithography equipment that prints nanometer-level wafers, as well as on Japanese companies for chemicals used in cleaning equipment and raw materials for chips.
