U.S. Opens Probe Into 110,000 Ford SUVs Over Seat Belt Issue

The complaints cited a loud noise immediately followed by the seat belt tightening and remaining locked in place, potentially due to an inadvertent deployment of the seat belt retractor pretensioner.

The affected vehicles include the 2019-2020 Ford Expedition and its luxury counterpart, the Lincoln Navigator.

Ford confirmed it is cooperating with the NHTSA to support the investigation.

In a separate probe, the NHTSA is examining 456,565 Ford vehicles over reported incidents of motive power loss and electrical system failures. This investigation covers the 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport crossover SUVs and Maverick pickup trucks, which share the same platform.
