WBD filed the lawsuit against the NBA in July after the league signed new broadcast rights agreements with Disney, Amazon, and NBC, collectively worth $76 billion. WBD, the parent company of CNN, alleged it had a contractual right to match any offer presented to the league, but its bid was rejected.
As part of the settlement, the 2024-2025 NBA season will be TNT’s last to broadcast games. However, the NBA will grant WBD a 10-year license to use its content for various programs, such as talk shows, variety shows, and docuseries.
Additionally, WBD will gain exclusive rights to broadcast live NBA games in Northern Europe and Latin America for the next 11 years.
Its online outlets, Bleacher Report and House of Highlights, will also receive global rights to NBA content. The Wall Street Journal was the first to report this news. WBD declined to comment, and the NBA was not immediately available for a response.
